The API key identifies your account, authorizes\naccess to available services, and enables accurate usage tracking.\n\nInclude your API key as the apikey query parameter in every\nrequest. Requests without a valid API key, or with insufficient\npermissions, will be rejected with an appropriate error response.\n\nKeep your API key secure and avoid exposing it in client-side\napplications or public repositories. If you believe your API key\nhas been compromised, generate a new key through your meteoblue account.\n\n## Limitations\n\nEach API request retrieves historical data for **one weather variable**\nand supports a maximum time range of **30 years**.\n\nHistorical data is available from **1940 onwards**. The primary\ndata source is the **ERA5T reanalysis dataset**, which is updated\nwith a delay of approximately **8 days**. For more recent dates not\nyet covered by ERA5T, the API can fill the remaining period with\n**meteoblue NEMS model data**, ensuring continuous and gap-free time\nseries whenever possible.\n\nBy default, all timestamps are returned in **UTC**. To receive data\nin local time, specify the appropriate UTC offset using the optional\nrequest parameters.\n\n## Credits and Call Limits\n\n### API Keys and Access\n\nAccess to the History API is secured API keys. Each API key is\nassociated with a user account and is used to authenticate API requests.\n\nA single user account can own multiple API keys, allowing API usage\nto be separated across different applications, environments, or\nprojects. All API usage is attributed to the account that owns the\nAPI key.\n\nThe API key must be included as the apikey query parameter in every\nrequest.\n\nAPI keys should be stored securely and must never be exposed in\npublicly accessible applications, repositories, or source code.\n\n### Usage Accounting and Limits\n\nHistory API usage is measured in **credits** rather than fixed\ncall quotas.\n\nEach API request consumes credits based on the requested time range. The\nnumber of credits is calculated by multiplying the number of hours\nin the requested period by a factor of **100**. When aggregation is\napplied, the factor is reduced to **50** for daily data and **25**\nfor monthly data.\n\nUsage statistics are available through your meteoblue account, providing\ntransparency into credit consumption and API activity over time.\n\nTo ensure stable and reliable service, daily credit limits can be\nconfigured at two levels:\n- **Account-level limits**, which help maintain overall API stability.\n- **API key-level limits**, which allow users to prevent accidental\n    overuse for individual applications or environments.\n\nIf the configured daily credit limit is exceeded, subsequent API\nrequests will return an error response.\n\nUnless otherwise agreed, API requests are limited to **500 calls per\nminute** per API key.
